Why should I use a water filtration system and what kind should I use?

Lately my friends and family have been telling me that I should really be using some kind of water filtration system instead of drinking my water straight from the faucet. I was just wondering if there was any advantage health wise as to drinking filtered water over tap water.

Pitcher filters vs faucet filters — which is better?

Currently I’m using the Pur 2-stage filter for pitchers and I am very satisfied with the taste and quality of the water after filtering. I don’t mind the price of the filters and it works well for me.

However, my boyfriend has a problem with how frequently the pitcher has to be refilled. He also doesn’t refill it when he does drink water so I end up having to refill it before I can have any water when I get home from work. :P

I guess I’m just wondering if it’d be worth it to switch to a faucet-mounted filter. It seems more expensive, but I don’t know how long the filter would last. I’d discourage use for anything besides drinking water, but we do drink a lot of water.

What do you guys think? Also, I’ll be sticking with Pur regardless of how I go.

Question about faucet water?

I fill up a water bottle from the water faucet or the sink in my kitchen. It smells to me like onions or something. Is it safe to drink? Only filter we have is something in the basement, which was recently changed.

I don’t mind drinking it if it’s safe. Thanks

Review – Dirty Water From Pur Water Filters

Pur faucet mount filters add particulate matter to the water they filter. My tests for TDS (total dissolved solids) reveal this to be true. Even after flushing according to package instructions, the water appears to be dirtier AFTER filtration than before. I’ve tested a dozen Pur filters over a two year period. The results are always the same. I finally accept this reality and I have stopped using the filters until Pur can convince me otherwise. Comments?

PUR water filter and pregnant?

i recently bought a Pur water filter system…i followed all the intructions on how to put it in the faucet..hopefully i did it right. now my main concern is that i am pregnant. is it ok drinking it? sorry i am just really paranoid with my unborn baby and just wants whats best..what do you think????
is it safe?
oh yeah i think i am paranoid because of the whole replacing your filter….and running the water for 5 minutes after each new filter..and running it 5 seconds everytime i wanna drink out of it…idk…what if i am in a hurry and i just get a quick glass of water….

Best sink faucet filter for drinking water?

We drink the water from the sink faucet, but a water filter would be nice. I’d like one of the units that you just put on the faucet, not one of the big ones that sit off to the side. Price isn’t an issue.

Thanks!
